Itinerary

Day 1: Discover the Islands at the Edge of the World

  • Visit Maputeao’s tomb: the last queen of the island
  • Visit the Queen’s basin
  • Visit Rouru’s convents

Day 2: Onboard for a Boat Tour with a Local Guide

  • Visit Mataihutea Point, with views of Rikitea Bay
  • Visit the island of Taravai with the “ghost village” of Agokono, the Church of Saint Gabriel
  • Picnic on the motu on a white sand beach & snorkel
  • Visit the island of Aukena, with its hexagonal watchtower overlooking the turquoise lagoon
  • Visit the island of Akamaru, with the Church of ‘’Our Lady of Peace’’

Day 3: A day in Taku

  • Drive to the village of Taku
  • Visit the Church of St Joseph built before 1866
  • Climb the Mount Duff (Highest peak – 1.447 feet) and Mont Mokoto

Day 4: Enjoy the village of Rikitea by bicycle

  • Visit Saint Michael’s Cathedral of Mangareva, whose altar decorated with pearls and mother-of-pearl
  • Hear joyous singing at a church on Sunday
  • Shop at the handicraft
  • Visit of a high school of engraving on mother-of-pearl, and shop
  • Visit of some pearl’s and shop
