The history of paradise on display

October 31, 2019 in Experience

Until September, a new exhibition in Tahiti will take visitors through a historic journey of the islands that many consider to be paradise.

The « TUPUNA ➔ TRANSIT » exhibition, on display at Papeete’s most famous museum, Musée de Tahiti et des Îles – Te Fare Manaha, which celebrates 40 years of opening to the public this year.

The new exhibition will feature hundreds of objects representing the 5 archipelagos of French Polynesia. In addition to the physical displays, digital installations help to retrace the history of the islands and these will continue to evolve over the life of the exhibition.

Of particular significance, four canoes will also be displayed, symbolizing the voyages of great Polynesian migrations of the past. These historic artifacts will be on show alongside the museum’s most recent acquisitions.

The exhibition runs until 20 September.
